Taste of Africa Showcase Middlesbrough Town Hall –15th October.
An event organised to promote the positive side of Africa and its people. This is the 7th year of the event which is celebrated in October a month designated as Black History Month. This event provides African students both new and old opportunity to socialise, network and find out more about the community they now live in.

African Market
This is an opportunity for the local community to experience the first African market in Tees Valley. The fair would provide opportunity to purchase African jewellery, art, craft, clothes, music, food etc. This is also an opportunity to experience African cultural style not seen in Middlesbrough before
Career, Jobs & Health Fair 15th October
This is an opportunity for organizations to get together with new communities in order to create awareness and provide information for their services. This will take place in the afternoon on the same day from 12 - 4pm at the Crypt of the Town Hall, Middlesbrough.
The Evening Showcase
The themes of A Taste of Africa 2010 will provide a multi-dimensional showcase for local African talent, celebrating African art, poetry, fashion, performances, design, music, food and thought. On the same day from 6 - 10pm at the Town Hall, Middlesbrough, local entrepreneurship and excellence will be celebrated alongside fabulous performances by remarkable African entertainers.
Recruitment Fair
Within the Taste of Africa event is also the opportunity to support our Recruitment Fair which is part of the programme. The aim of this is to provide students opportunity to meet with agencies and organisations both local and potentially those that recruit for other countries to increase chances of employment in UK or other parts of the world. Last year this proved popular to students from Teesside University who attended out events.
Celebrating Diversity Awards 1st October 2010
The awards dinner was established 4years ago to promote the positive contribution of BME, refugees’ migrant and people from new communities to the local community. This event has seen key members of the community both business and public embrace the awards and supported it purpose. Bob Cuffe managing Director of Gazette media, Dinah Benette founder Women Into Network and David Chandler Chief Executive of Traid Craft to name a few have been speakers and supported the event over the years. This year's award will be held from 7 - 11pm at Middlesbrough Town Hall Middlersbrough
STAGESTAR 9th October 2010
A series of performances would be organized to showcase the talents of the youths within the Tees-Valley region and North East of UK. The performers will comprise of acts from different genres such as; Singing, Rapping, Dancing, Stand up comedy, Break Dancing, Gospel, Ballet, Circus act and Playing live acoustics on stage. The event will promote and provide exposure for the local youth talents within the region to the public and also give the last 3 finalist a chance to perform and showcase their talent in front of a much bigger audience at the evening showcase which will in turn boost their confidence. This event will be held on the same day from 12 - 4pm at Teesside university (The HUB) student union
Spoken Words 2010 – Teesside University
We are also hoping to organise a Spoken Words event at the University this year as part of the celebration of Black History Month which would also link to the Taste of Africa event at the Middlesbrough Town Hall on the 15th October.
